Iolite faceted rondelles measure approximately 2.5mm average in diameter, have a vitreous luster, good cut and polish, symmetrical rondelle shapes, fairly well matched for a deeply saturated color, the pleochroic gems have a violetish blue, grey and colorless hue depending on direction of view, and the transparent bodies have visible internal characteristics for a wonderfully rich strand of rondelles.
